CILIP and SCL are looking for a Clore Leadership graduate to research, develop, deliver and evaluate a 2-day residential leadership course, followed by a catch-up session.
CILIP and The Society of Chief Librarians (SCL) believe that leadership is a key attribute in securing the future success of the public library sector, and that effective leadership can happen at any level of the organisation. Building on the jointly published Public Library Skills Strategy, we have secured funding from the Arts Council of England to develop a pilot leadership programme.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Clore graduate to develop and facilitate a 2 day residential leadership course, followed by a 1 day catch-up session.
For a cohort of 15 public library staff from England
Aimed at emerging leaders- giving talented staff who aspire to lead, the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
The course materials should include:
• A brief summary of different leadership styles
• Opportunities to explore the wider role of library and information professionals in the community
• Opportunities to develop advocacy skills to champion the profession
• Practical skills and tools
• Real-life examples
• Individual and group learning
• Opportunities to listen to cultural leaders talk about their experiences of leadership
Feb-March – develop a pilot leadership programme for public library staff, comprising of a 2 day residential course and 1 day follow-up session, with supporting materials.
April – 2 day residential course
May – 1 day follow up session
June –Evaluation report
Up to £15,000 to develop and facilitate the 2 day course and 1 day catch-up session, collect feedback and write an evaluation report with recommendations.
