The first stage of the Future Skills Project is almost complete. The project is now moving into the implementation phase.
Professional Knowledge and Skills Base
CILIP launched the new Professional Knowledge and Skills Base in September 2012. An online version of the tool will be launched at Umbrella in July 2013.
Accreditation and the Seal of Recognition
CILIP Council approved the new model for Accreditation at their meeting in September 2012. Since then CILIP have been working on the assessment criteria and guidance so that new processes can be launched in April 2013 and go live in May 2013.
CILIP Council approved the closure of the Seal of Recognition scheme. The Seal of Recognition was used to highlight good practice in CPD provision to members. However, the review found that there was little value in the scheme for both members and CPD providers. Instead, CILIP are looking at different ways of building partnerships with providers and delivering cost effective training for members.
Over the past year, CILIP has completed extensive consultation with members, employers and key stakeholders. This enabled the project team to develop a revised framework of qualifications which was approved by Council in March 2013.
Engaging with employers
As part of the Future Skills Project, CILIP ran three employer engagement panels in 2012. This has provided CILIP with a better understanding of the needs of employers across the sector. As a result, CILIP has committed to engaging and working more closely with employers. CILIP will also provide employers with targeted communications and information which demonstrates the value of our products and services.
